    In her father's probate records is a petition by the eldest son naming all the heirs, including Magdalen Ruth.

    Also in her father's file is a petition for a guardian: On 14 Nov 1771 Magdalen Ruth, age twenty years or thereabouts, daughter of Peter Ruth of Cumru Twp. deceased, petitioned for a guardian.

    In her half-brother Peter Ruth's probate file is a planned distribution dated 8 Feb 1786 names all the siblings and half siblings, including [niece] "Barbara Hahn only heir of Magdalena Hahn who was a sister of the said deceased".1,5,2

    We do know her 1751 birth date with certainty, from the baptism record and the petition for guardianship. We know that in 1786 she had pre-deceased her brother Peter, and that she had married a "Hahn" (alias "Hain"), and had a daughter Barbara.

    This compiler has not found records that identify Maria Magdalena Ruth's husband with any certainty, nor a record of her death or probate. But circumstantial evidence suggests that she was the first wife of George Hain (1746-1803), and is so represented in this database. See discussion under George Hain.

    This Maria Magdalena Ruth is not to be confused with the Magdalena Ruth, b. 11 Aug 1768, d. 4 May 1831, m. 18 Dec 1787 Peter Hain. That Magdalena was the daughter of Johann Michael Ruth (1724-12 Oct 1803) and Anna Maria Moser (1735-1804). Peter was the son of John Casper Hain and Catharine Laucks.
