Notes
- Note*: See the note in this database under Mary Magdalena Graff regarding the upbringing of her young daughters after her death.
- Note: Obituaries of sisters Catharine Elizabeth (Doll) Guilford and Mary Ann (Doll) Moore were pasted into the bible of William Moore of Lebanon. The religious nature of the text suggests that these were written by and for members of their congregation.:
"In Lebanon, Pa., on the 8th instant, Mrs. Catharine Elizabeth, wife of Simeon Guilford, Esq., aged 49 years and 6 days.
Mrs. Guilford was a daughter of Conrad and Mary M. Doll, of Lancaster, Pa. In her infancy she was dedicated to God in the holy ordinance of Christian baptism. After her marriage with her present surviving husband, she was admitted to full communion with the Reformed Church, by the Rev. Henry Wagner...In her death, the congregation of Lebanon lost one of its brightest ornaments, one of its most useful members...In the Sabbath School, in which she served as one of the superintendents, until disabled by declining health, she took a deep and lively interest. The Female Benevolent Society of the congregation, in whose organization she actively participated, and which she had served as President, shared largely in her Christian zeal and devoted efforts. ..."8 - Note: In his 1841 William Moore of Lebanon made the following bequest:
"Item: I give and bequeath unto Catherine Guilford, the wife of Simeon Guilford, in cash one hundred dollars."9
