Notes
- Name Variation: Maria Catherine Hiester3
- Note*: Little or nothing is known of Maria Catharine wife of Jacob Seltzer. Her birth and death dates are given on her gravestone. She is named in contemporary records - deeds and a baptism, simply as Catharina. In her will she gives her name as Maria Catharina Seltzer. In abstracts of documents held by the Tulpehocken Settlement Society she is called Anna Maria Catherine Seltzer.
Her maiden name is given as Hiester in Montgomery's book published in 1909 and in later modern works. No earlier source for this surname has been found by this compiler. She is not listed in several genealogies of the Hiester family. She is not named in contemporary Hiester wills.
There is no evidence of whether not she immigrated from Europe, but given her age it seems likely. - Note: Probate:
