Notes
- Note*: Orphaned nieces:
"Catharine Elizabeth [Doll] was named for her aunts Catharine (Groff) Stoy, and Elizabeth (Groff) Moore.
Owing to the death of their parents the daughters [Catherine Elizabeth Doll and Mary Ann [Doll] became orphans at a very early age. The elder Catharine Elizabeth, was only three and one-half years old when her mother died, and about two and one-quarter years of age at the time of the death of her father. [Incorrect, her father died 1819 when she was 10.] Consequently, the children were taken care of by their relatives, the elder daughter, Catharine, lived for some years with her aunt, Mrs. Tressler, afterwards with her aunt Mrs. Stoy, and upon completing her education, with her aunt Mrs. Wm. Moore, of Lebanon, Pa. until her marriage to Simeon Guilford."9 - Note: Catharine Graff (1752-1814), in her 1813 will, named her brother Andrew Graff and some of his children: John Graff, Margaret Graff, Catharine the wife of Gustavus Stoy, Mary Magdalena Doll deceased the late wife of Conrad Doll, Elizabeth Moore the wife of William Moore, George Michael Graff, Henry Graff (abroad), and Margaret.
Andrew Graff (1714-1816), in his 1816 will, named children: John, Margaret who appeared to be unmarried, Catharine married to Gustovus Stoy, Mary Magdalen deceased late wife of Conrad Doll, Elizabeth married to William Moore, George Michael Graff, Henry Graff who had been abroad for several years.1,2 - Note: On 16 July 1823 William Thompson of the city of Lancaster in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, the guardian appointed by the orphans court of that county over Frederick Graff Stoy, Joseph Graff Stoy, and Margaret Graff Stoy children of Gustavus Stoy late of the city of Lancaster deceased and the grandchildren of Andrew Graff Esquire of the borough of Lancaster deceased, acknowledged receipt of $833 bequeathed to Frederick Joseph and Margaret in Andrew Graff's will, paid by the executor John Graff. Recorded 9 Aug 1823, Lancaster County Deeds, Vol. 25, page 287.10
- Note: The 1850 U.S. census for Lewistown, Mifflin County, Pennsylvania records Catharine Stoe, age 76, living with John and Margaret J. Hamilton and their 14 year old son Alfred. Margaret's maiden name is shown to be Stoy by her son Alfred's death certificate. So in 1850 Catharine (Graff) Stoy was living with her daughter.
The 1860 U.S. census for Lewiston records Catherine Stoy, age 86, living with her 24 year old grandson Alfred Hamilton, M.D., and his wife Martha.11 - Note: Two listings of burials in St John's Cemetery, Lewistown, Mifflin Co., Pennsylania include:

Robert Pilgram's 1921 letter. Possibly the manuscript was typed by Pilgram. Pilgram's letter quotes a portion of the manuscript. Pilgram says he has had the data for 15 years - so the data was created circa 1906. Guilford--Billy-Guilford-Data--Genealogy-of-Groff-Family.pdf
