  • Note: The conclusion that Mary Paxson of the 1718 will was formerly married to someone with the surname White is based on the facts that she names in her will the same children named by John Carter in his will, and that John Carter is shown to have married Grace White.

    The conclusion that the White to whom Mary Paxson was married was John White of the 1693 will is based on the fact that their wills list the same children.

    There is no direct evidence that this Mary Paxson was the widow of William Paxson who died in 1709. It is known from his will that he had married a second time to a woman named Mary who had children by a former marriage; she fits this description.

    There is no evidence whatsoever regarding her maiden name.
