    In 1808 Letters of Administration were granted on the estate of Francis Ruth.

    On 15 Nov 1809 a petition to the Berks county Orphans Court was made by John Ruth eldest son of Francis Ruth late of Cocalico Township Lancaster County farmer deceased, who died intestate owning land in Brecknock Township in Berks County, and leaving a widow Elizabeth and eleven children namely John the petitioner, Henry, Christian, Catharine married to Adam Beam, Magdalena, Isaac, Mary, Jacob, Peter, Elizabeth, and Rebecca, with guardians appointed for the minors by Orphans Court of Lancaster county.

    An undated document regarding the distribution in the Berks county file names the same children. The total distribution was to be £231.5,6
