    This compiler asserts that the 'Jacob Riehel' who was buried 28 December 1785 is the same person as 'Jacob Riegel' whose intestate estate was probated beginning 24 Jan 1876. This assertion is based on the rough similarity of the names and two facts: No Berks county probate records were found for 'Riehel' with 1785 death record. Likewise no death record can be found for 'Riegel' whose estate was probated in January.

    On the other hand, the names are distinctively different in handwritten German. (See Rev. Boas' Schwarzwald records.) So the assertion is weak.
