Nathan was described as a mechanic in an 1828 deed, and as a blacksmith in another the next year.
In April 14 1838, following a trip to Cincinnati by his son Nathan junior, Nathan sold his farm to nephews William & Edward Livezey. Shortly thereafter Nathan and all his children, with there families traveled via the National Road to Springboro, Warren county, Ohio. In the spring of 1839 the family located in Henry county, Indiana. Nathan and two of his sons purchased farms in Prairie township. The other sons and daughters located within the county and Newcastle.
In the 1827 Quaker schism Nathan and family followed the teachings of Hicks. In Indiana they attended the Greensboro meeting, but later he and some of the children became members of the German Baptist Church.2
