  • Immigration*: 1639; New Sweden
  • Note*: Left Goteborg Sweden in 1639 on ship Kalmar Nyckel, with pregnant wife and two children. Initially at Fort Christina plantation. Became freeman in 1645, resided Kingsessing, operated grist mill on Cobbs Creek. In 1664 moved across the Schuylkill to Wicaco, had 1125 acre plantation, land later to become city of Philadelphia.3
  • Note: "Sven Gunnarsson had arrived in New Sweden in 1640, as a convict, with his wife and young children. After his servitude expired, he settled first in Kingsessing on land still owned by the family in 1671. On 5 May 1664, Governor d'Hinojossa granted him and his sons 800 acres in Wicaco, which was confirmed by a Lovelace patent dated 1 May 1671."4
