  • Note*: "Prudence (Lanning) Cook was a young woman at the time of the Revolutionary war, and she was able to the close of her life to recall from personal experience some of its momentous events. When General Washington and his army made the memorable passage of the Delaware she was living at what is now Lambertville, and entertained the soldiers by making milk punch to revive their energies amid the hardships and privations of that rigorous winter."6
