• Note*: Maria's origins are unknown. Her children, in ten US census recordings, always reported their father's birthplace as Pennsylvania. But they were not consistent regarding their mother Maria - half the reports had her born in Pennsylvania, and half in Maryland.
  
  Maria's maiden name is uncertain. The 1906 death certificate of John Moore states that both his parents were born in Reading, Pennsylvania, and that her name was Maria Commings. The informant for that death certificate information was a grand-daughter's husband. Any help in finding supporting information would be appreciated.
  
  Numerous Ancestry Family Trees state that Maria' last name was Tillum. But these merit little trust - every Tree examined so far cites only another Family Tree. The only Tillum family found in the area by this compiler moved there around 1861, the husband coming from Chester county. So the Tillum name is unsupported. Some Trees state that Maria's mother first married a Tillum and secondly a McCummins. None cite documents linking the names.
