Notes

  • Note*: Will of James Elliot of the Borough of Lebanon, Lebanon Co., Pennsylvania, dated 27 April 1850, recorded 27 May 1850.
Makes bequests to nephew Thomas Elliot, niece Lydia Ann Elliot, nephew Archibald Shaw, James Elliot Moore son of my friend William Moore of Womelsdorf, Elizabeth Shindel as a token of gratitude, nephews John Elliot and Samuel Elliot sons of my deceased sister Lydia Elliot. Executor Dr. William Moore of Womelsdorf. Witnesses John Widman, A. R. Boughter. Recorded Lebanon County Wills Vol. C, p. 330. Viewed on FamilySearch.org, image 199.

Note: He appears to have had no surviving wife or children.1
  • Note: Note that the executor, Dr. William Moore, named one of his sons, born 1845, James Elliot Moore.
  • Note: William Moore of Lebanon in his 1841 will makes the following bequest, among others:

"Item: I give and bequeath unto James Elliot of the Borough of Lebanon, Twenty Shares of Stock in the Susquehanna Canal Company."

Ann Gray of Womelsdorf, step-sister of William Moore of Lebanon, in her 1841 will, made the following bequest among others:

"to Ann Elliot, Frances Elliot and Margaret Green daughters of my late brother Robt. Grey $50 each."2,3
  • Note: The common last name suggests that James Elliot of Lebanon may have been a son of one of the nieces of Ann Grey of Womelsdorf. Or this purely a coincidence. The compiler of this database has not found additional evidence.
