Notes

  • Note*: The 1841 will of Ann Gray states:
"To my Nephew George Love one hundred dollars.
To grand niece Nancy daughter one hundred dollars."1
  • Note: No direct evidence was found by this compiler that Nancy Love was the daughter of Christopher and Catherine Love and that she was the mother of William Alexander Campbell and John Campbell. But it seems a safe deduction:

It is highly likely that Christopher and Catherine Love had three children, William, Jane and an unnamed daughter married to a Campbell, given that in her will Catherine divides her property three ways, to William, Jane, and the Campbells. And when William dies intestate and without issue, a portion his property goes to Jane's heir and the Campbells.

It is likely, but less certain, that Nancy Love was that unnamed daughter of Christopher and Catherine Love. Ann Gray names grand-niece Nancy Love. Alexander Love and Ann Gray's sister Elizabeth have only two known surviving children, Christopher and George. George was childless. So Christopher was probably the father of Nancy Love.
  • Note: Nancy appears to have married, had two children and died between 1841 and 1847, based on the will dates of Ann Gray and George Love.
