  • Note*: Bucks County Orphans Court 13 March 1754: By his will Jeremiah Langhorne had devised his plantation in Middletown to his cousin Thomas Biles, who had died leaving issue one only son Thomas Langhorne Biles. Lawrence Growden and Langhorne Biles, executors of the will of Jeremiah Langhorne, petitioned the court to appoint a guardian for then not yet two months old Thomas Langhorne Biles. The court appointed one of them Langhorne Biles.1
  • Note: At Bucks County Orphans Court 13 March 1769. Thomas Biles, only son and heir at law of his father Thomas Biles late of Middletown deceased, is a minor above fourteen years and under twenty one years, and requests that Joseph Kirkbride be appointed his guardian, which was so ordered. In or about 1754 Langhorne Biles had been appointed guardian, but is now lately deceased.4
  • Note: Will of Thomas Biles, of Middletown Township, Bucks County. Written 14 January 1754, proved 8 February 1754. "...all my Estates both Real and Personal be Deposed of according to the Laws of Pennsylvania made and Provided for Settling of Intestate Estates."     Joseph Clayton of Trenton, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, on 26 April 1753 granted to Thomas Biles of Middletown, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, in consideration of £300 current money of province of New Jersey, a lot in Trenton containing 27 3/4 perches of land. Handwriting of deed of Joseph Cleayton deceased affirmed by Benjamin Biles Esquire sworn 19 April 1786. Recorded 1 June 1786, Hunterdon County Deeds, Vol. 1, p. 76-79.     Benjamin Biles Esq. High Sheriff of Hunterdon Co., under authority of Supreme Court writs, granted on 4 Dec 1754 to Elizabeth Biles of Hunterdon Co. widow, the highest bidder, in consideration of £123, a lot of 27 3/4 perches in Trenton on the east side of Queen Street, formerly the property of Thomas Biles deceased. [Thomas Biles of Middletown, Bucks Co. had purchased the lot 26 April 1753 from Joseph Cleayton, Hunterdon County Deeds 1:76.] The Supreme Court had ordered the sale to pay Daniel Biles & Margaret his wife a judgment they won against the executors of the will of Thomas Biles for debts of £166.13.4 and also £5.0.1 damages & costs. The executors were Sarah Biles & Langhorn Biles. The deed was validated before Benjamin Biles Esq. 12 Sept 1765, then one of Judges of the Inferior Court of Common Pleas.     Moore Furman Esq. high sheriff Hunterdon County on 10 January 1760 granted to Joseph Higbee of Trenton, in consideration of in consideration of £710 proclamation money, a tract containing 413 acres and one rod of land. The Supreme Court of the King for New jersey had ordered the sale of lands of the estate of Thomas Biles deceased held by his executors Langhorne Biles and Sarah Biles executors. Judgments had been awarded to Samuel Tucher Jur. of Trenton merchant for £105.11.3 for damages he sustained by non-performance of promises by Thomas Biles. Also Joseph Higbee claimed debts of £694.8.1 and £5.2.11 against the estate. Also in the document Sarah Biles widow and relick of said Thomas Biles, in consideration of £107 paid by Joseph Higbee, agreed not to claim rights of dower. West Jersey Deeds, Vol. R, p. 264-272.
