Notes

  • Note*: Nothing is established regarding Rosina's surname or parentage.

Her surname is given as Kauffer in some DAR applications. Egle's Notes and Queries, 1898, p. 242-245 lists four Kueffer families at Hill Church, Quitapohila, Lebanon Township, where Frederick Hummel is first recorded. Kieffer and Kuffer are a few of the many alternate spellings. Researcher Janet Snyder Welsh, referring to Vallentine and Vincent Kaufer at that church, states "Although I still lack proof, I suspect that this is Rosina's family".

Any help regarding Rosina's surname would be appreciated.4
  • Note: Rosina is named in the following documents:
-Rev. John Casper Stoever names her as one of the sponsors of the 25 Feb. 1754 baptism of Rosina Margaretha Huber in Derry township.
-"Fridrich Humel and Rosina" his wife sponsored the 1 May 1768 baptism of Rosina Cathrina, daughter of Pfanenkuchen and Cathrina, at the Frederickstown Church (Wright).
-The baptism records of five of her children at Hummelstown Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church (TMG 428, It. 7. p. 90, It. 8, p. 243)
-Frederick Hummel and Rosina his wife are named as the grantors in two deeds selling lots in Hummelstown in 1763 and 1764 (Dauphin Co., 1M:351, 1B:331).5,6,2,7
