Edward Bailey of Makefield Twp., yeoman, mortgaged 17 Jan 1761 to Catherine Wistar, Richard Johnson David Deshler and Richard Wistar, executors of the will of Casper Wistar late of Philadelphia, to secure a debt of £300 to be paid 17 January 1762 to Catherine Wister, et. al., granted to Catherine Wister et. al. a tract of land in Makefield Twp. containing 264 acres which Amos Janney by indenture of 6 September 1732 granted to Thomas Bayly who by his will of 4 January 1732 devised to his son Edward Bayly. Made 17 January 1761. Recorded 12 April 1761, Bucks Co. Bk 10, pp. 234-236. Abstracted by the compiler. Viewed on FHL # 172876.

    1762: Edward Bayly of Lower Makefield, yeoman, and Ann his wife on 1 September 1762, in consideration of £887, granted to Samuel Leonard a plantation of 236 acres & 3/4 being part of plantation of 365 acres patented to Able Janney, who granted 1720 to Maylon Stacy, 264 acres of which Stacy granted 1742 to Amos Janney, who granted to Thomas Bayley, who by his will dated 4 January 1732 bequeathed to his son Edward Bayly. Tract is described by metes and bounds. Tract is on Delaware river, boundary crosses Bucks Ck., corner by Thomas Davis land, line by Edward Bayley's land, line crossing small creek leading to falls by John Dobley's[?] land. Recorded 17 June 1768, Bucks Co. Bk 12, pp. 153-155. Abstracted by the compiler. Viewed on FHL # 172877.

    1793: Edward Bayley of Lower Makefield Township, yeoman, and Ann his wife granted 2 May 1793 to Abiner Buckman, in consideration of £305, two pieces of adjoining land now in the possession of Abner Buckman situated in lower Makefield Township. Edward Bayley inherited the lands by the 4 January 1732 will of his father Thomas Bayley, who had purchased them from Amos Janney by lease and release executed 22 & 23 May 1734. One piece of 50 acres is the residue of 254 acres Amos Janney conveyed by lease and release 5 & 6 September 1732 to Thomas Bayley. The 50 acre piece is described by metes and bounds, beginning at a corner of a tract which Edward Bayley conveyed to Samuel Leonard 1 Sept 1761, and adjoining lands of Richard Hough and Mahlon Stacy. The second piece of five acres adjoined the land of Abel Jarvus. Recorded 3 June 1793, Bucks Co. Bk 27, p. 82. Abstracted by the compiler. Viewed on FHL # 172885.6
  • Note: Falls Monthly Meeting Minutes 1st of 11th mo 1756: "Edward Bayley gave a written acknowledgement, on account of his having Voluntarily contributed toward the furnishing a waggon for the present expedition, which was read and received."

    [Presumably that was this Edward, not his 18 year old nephew.]7
