Notes

  • Immigration*: between 1681 and 1682; New Jersey
  • Note*: Removed from Newby to Thruscross when quite a child. Moved again to Sandwick or Sanwith in Addingham parish by time of his 1678 marriage. Probably joined Society of Friends when quite young, probably at time of his father. Was an accepted minister before his marriage. In 1681 obtained a certificate from Beamsley Meeting for himself and family. Removed to West Jersey. In 1682 living in Bucks Co. Joined Neshamina (later Middletown) Mtg by 7 mo 2 1684. No mention of him as a minister in [American] meeting minutes. Resided in Bristol township. Meeting record references are to Falls Mtg minutes, mens & womens, & Middletown Mtg minutes. Had acquired 300 acres in Bristol Township, but had not paid for it. Owned at least 500 acres.1
  • Note: Will abstract: "Page 50. Thomas Adkinson of County of Bucks. 8th mo., 10th day, 1687. Proved 3rd mo., 21st day, 1688. Wife Jane, extx., to sell 100 acres bought of Jos. English, Bro. John Adkinson, 100 acres. Children, Isaac, William, and Samuel.
