Notes

  • Note*: Meldrum's book incorrectly states that Hannah Mickle married first Benjamin Whitall Jr, and, as his widow, married second his brother Joseph Whitall Jr.

Hannah's marriage to Joseph occurred in 1792, before Benjamin's death in 1797. And on Joseph and Hannah's marriage certificate she is clearly listed as 'Hannah Mickle', not 'Hannah Whitall, widow'.4
  • Note: Guardianship: "1790, Dec 18. Mickle, Hannah, of Gloucester Co. Ward. Daughter of John Mickle, of said Co, deceased. Said Ward makes choice of John S. Whitall as her Guardian.
1790, Dec 18. Guardian - John S. Whitall, of Woodbury. Fellowbondsman - Benjamin Whitall; both of said Co. Lib. 31, p. 482"
[John S Whitall had married Hannah Mickle's sister Sarah in 1788.]5
  • Note: In 1850 Hannah, age 77, resided in Deptford N.J. with her son Benjamin.6
  • Note: Will of Hannah Whitall, widow of Joseph Whitall, of Deptford Twp., Gloucester Co. N.J.
