Parents:

Father: John Whittal d. bt 15 Dec 1733 - 8 Feb 1733/34
Mother: Elizabeth Champneys d. bt 16 Nov 1735 - 31 Dec 1740

Notes

  • Note*: The 1715 will of Joseph Champneys, William's maternal uncle, refers to "William Whitehall, son of sister Elizabeth and John Whitehall". So some William was alive 1715. Yet the William in the mother's will was not 21 in 1740, so born after 1719. Perhaps the first William died, and the parents named a later child with the same name, not an uncommon practice. Or there is more to the story.1
