  • Note*: The 1784 will of John Cooper of Woodbury (NJA 35:94) names nephews Benjamin Whitall, James Sloan, Amos Cooper, and Jonathan Brown, and niece Martha Allinson, children of his siblings:

    Nephew Benjamin Whitall is the son of John's sister Ann Cooper and her husband James Whitall.
    Nephew James Sloan is the son of John's sister Mary Cooper and her first husband James Sloan. She married second Benjamin Test (Meldrum, p. 45, 49).
    Nephew Amos Cooper is the son of the John's brother David Cooper & his wife Sybil Matlack (Meldrum, p. 38, 46).
    Niece Martha Allison is also the child of David & Sybil; she married Samuel Allison (Meldrum, p. 46).
    Nephew Jonathan Brown is the son of John's sister Sarah Cooper and her husband John Brown (Meldrum, p. 41).2,3
