Notes

  • Note: "Joanna Reeder 2, the wife of William Green 1, was probably the daughter of John Reeder 1 and Hannah Burroughs 3.
John Reeder 1 came from Norfolk County, England, was at Newtown, L. I., before 1656, in which year he is on the Indian Rate for [pounds] 1, 10s. January 4, 1666-7, he signed the agreement to fence the Common field and November 25, 1686, his name appears on the Dongan Charter."3
  • Note*: See the Friends of the William Green Farmhouse website for more information on the Reeder family.4
  • Note: Both Bigelow & Moore both say that William Green married Joanna Reeder, and that her mother is a Burroughs and her father a John Reeder. They disagree on which Burroughs & on which John Reeder.
Moore has Joanna as a daughter of John Reeder 3rd & Hannah Burroughs. Where Bigelow has Joanna as daughter of John Reeder 2nd & Johanna Burroughs daughter of John Burroughs 1st.
Bigelow & Moore agree that John Reeder 3rd married Hannah Burroughs, daughter of Jeremiah Burroughs, the son of John Burroughs 1st & his first wife.
Moore appears to have merged events from the lives of John Reeder senior & junior.
    This compiler has followed Bigelow.
