Notes

  • Note*: The will of Thomas Tindall of Nottingham, (then) Burlington County, written 18 July 1713, lists his children, including daughter Ann (NJA 23:465).
The will of Isabel Tindall, widow of Thomas, written 17 Nov 1732, lists the same children, including daughter Anne Biles, to whom is bequeathed "the great Bible" (NJA 30:483).
The inventory on the estate of their son Robert Tindall of Trenton was made 18 Sept 1732 by Alexander Biles and Joseph Tindall (NJA 30:483).4
  • Note: Ann Tindall was married to a Biles per her mother's 1732 will, but no direct evidence has been recovered here as to which Biles.
Ann Tindall's husband may have been Alexander Biles, the son of Charles Biles and his wife Sarah Wood. Both were born in the 1690s; they lived within five or ten miles of each other. No wife is known for Alexander, while a wife is known for his brother John, at least at the time of his death, and wives are known for the sons of immigrant William Biles, the only other Biles known for sure in the area. So by inference Alexander was Ann's husband.
Warren Ely reached this determination, without citing additional evidence or reasoning.5
