Solomon Childs1,2,3

M, #174, b. 30 July 1781, d. 19 October 1865
  • Birth*: 30 July 1781; Henniker, Merrimack Co., New Hampshire2
  • Birth: 30 July 17821
  • Marriage: 21 September 1806; Hopkinton, Merrimack Co., New Hampshire; "Polly Long of Hopkinton"; Principal=Mary Long4,5
  • Marriage*: 1824; Principal=Lucinda Child6
  • Death*: 19 October 1865; Henniker, Merrimack Co., New Hampshire; Age 84 years, 10 months, 24 days; Disease or Cause of death: Old age7
  • Burial*: Henniker, Merrimack Co., New Hampshire; ae 848
  • Note*: List of children: Solomon Child did not record his children's names with a town clerk, or at least this compiler has not found such records. Nor did he leave a will listing children. The eleven children listed in the Elias Childs book are posted in this database. Death records for eight of those children name one or both parents. The multiple dates of death for William Curtis, and similarity to the Davids' dates suggest some confusions.
  • Note: Solomon Childs of Henniker died intestate. (Indexed as Merrimack Co., New Hampshire, case 6781, image 2940). On 26 Nov 1865 administration was granted to Horace Childs of Henniker, who declared that Solomon Child died leaving no widow, and that he Horace was one of his children and heirs (Vol. 45, p. 82, image 560). The amount of $600 is listed in the Docket volume, presumably the bond amount (Vol. 37, p. 371, image 296). The probate record index references only the administration, and no inventory, account nor distribution (Index 1823-1869 no. 1, image 28).9
